Sascha M. Retailleau

As the Founder, CEO and Program Lead for Element Product Design, a design consulting and product development firm in San Francisco, Sascha helps both start-ups and established firms bring new ideas to market. Originally from Chicago, Sascha has been designing and developing products and interfaces for over 20 years.

His firm focusses its work on “good karma” products, which either bring joy to people and/or leave the world a better place. His design experience ranges from complex consumer electronics to medical devices to industrial products. In recent years, he has both contributed to and managed the teams that have done the heavy-lifting to design and engineer the XT Series of automated pharmaceutical dispensing cabinets for Omnicell, the Brrr liquid nitrogen ice cream machines for Smitten Ice Cream, the PowerStore energy storage hardware platform for Stem, the Ecobee3 smart home thermostat and the Kuri AI-enabled personal home robot for Mayfield Robotics/Bosch.

Mr. Retailleau passionately believes that products should always address real user needs, and do so in an elegant, efficient and beautiful manner.

He completed his undergraduate work at Columbia University’s School of Engineering and he holds two Master’s degrees from Stanford University: one in Engineering & Management and one in Product Design.
